Skift is hiring an Account Executive to sell sponsorships at an exciting time, as we enter the new “Golden Age of Travel”.  Founded in 2012, Skift is a business-to-business media company that reports on the travel industry by providing news, and insights to senior executives through our digital platform including research, newsletters, and conferences.


The Opportunity


The Account Executive, Sponsorship Sales, will be selling content, event sponsorships, and digital advertising on Skift.com and Airline Weekly. As an AE, you will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process, including prospecting and nurturing leads, pitching clients, closing deals, and guiding programs through to completion. You will work in collaboration with SkiftX, Skift’s in-house agency, to deliver programs that meet our client’s goals. The position reports to the VP of Sales.


This successful candidate will be someone who has experience selling strategic premium sponsorships and/or event activations and is adept at understanding how to marry product solutions to client goals. This position requires excellent verbal and written communications skills is a self-starter with a “can-do” attitude, and operates well outside the confines of a traditional office setting.


Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with a team-based around the globe. This position is remote, from anywhere in the United States, and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, meet goals, and set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically work outside normal company hours for special events or projects.


Some of What You’ll Do


  • Building a sales pipeline from leads and prospecting
  • Maintaining a robust sales pipeline and closing deals
  • Engaging with clients throughout the Skift ecosystem
  • Creating proposals that sell by meeting clients' goals
  • Being an expert on all Skift brands, including mission, audience, and product offerings
  • Managing all deals through Skift’s CRM (Hubspot)
  • Work closely with Skift VP of Sales to ensure mid-year and annual goals are met
  • Represent your client’s interests internally, during pre and post-sale
  • Attend Skift events (live and hybrid) as required throughout the year


The Experience You Bring


  • 7+ years of media sales experience, preferably in branded content and sponsorship sales
  • B2B media sales experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in lead generation, sales forecasting, and using sales CRM/Hubspot
  • Deep knowledge of running successful branding and performance campaigns
  • Experience in structuring/negotiating media deals
  • Proven success in selling sponsorships and branded content
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment and learn, learn, learn!
